I know better than to listen to an advertiser who uses the famous suffix "ER" without the word "than". Eva says this carafe keeps beverages cold longER. No where does it state longer than what... or for how long.... or at what temperatures and durations Eva used to make such a statement; but its an adorable thing so I bought it anyway.I like to keep cold water by my bed.I don't like it to be room temp though.I do not like the look or feel of most thermoses.I want my beverage kept clean through the night.Bedside covered carafes intended for this purpose come in too small a size and have no thermal properties either. So I thought this cute jar might do the trick.NOPE. There is NO TRUTH TO ITS THERMAL PROWESS WHATSOEVER, BELIEVE YOU ME.Yes I know it says "fridge bottle" so my use of it, bedside, outside the refrigerator is off label use.As the other reviewer states the glass is thin.Put ice in, add in fridge cold ice water and watch the ice melt faster than you've ever seen ice melt. This is with or without the cute neo cover.I don't even know why it melts that fast but within 20 minutes of stacking cubes in this carafe you'll not even have a sliver floating around. Not a piece of crush-- nooothing! In an hour you have yick room temperature water.More so, DO NOT PUT THIS DIRECTLY ON YOUR FINE FURNITURE!The neoprene does just what a neo wet suit does on our body (or a neoprene knee joint wrap). It makes it sweat like mad. Condensation pops right through the cover leaving you with a watery mess on your desk or table. I can't imagine what sense that design makes.Perhaps in the fridge only- is where one should use it but it holds so little water you'd have to refill it all the time meaning your bottle wouldn't have ready cold water in it, it would only have room temp bottled water or tap cool water in it due to the frequent refill.Yes it does pour beautifully. Smooth. NO bursts. No drip. Lovely to behold. A rotating well built plastic disc lies beneath the pretty chrome stopper. Top layer silently pops up when you tip the bottle, disc rotates for a glass like flow. Eva should show this element off. I'm just not sure that one feature is worth up to over the one hundred bucks I see Solo selling for.You can't drink right from the lip, despite that excellent pour engineering. That will bathe your chest in water. So as a nightstand bottle (or desk bottle) it has to have a tumbler next to it for drinking out of, then to keep that pristine both that tumbler and the top of this carafe need to have yet some other lid or cover because the pouring lip of this (the upper of a steel funnel) is exposed to whatever might crawl or drop by in the dark of night. Then you need to place something under it to catch the drippy condensation. If you have a tiny nightstand, forget it.The good of the neoprene is that it feels great in the hand and my guess is if you drop the carafe it should protect it to an extent, from shattering. The colorful zipper or bright color choices of the entire sleeve make it indeed attention grabbing.Clean up is easy. The stopper pops out easily. The sexy chromed funnel pulls out nicely. The funnel goes back in tightly. The stopper pops in with the cutest fine crystal sounding cha ching you've ever heard. If your boudoir is blessed with a mini fridge that may be where this bottle would serve ya best.If those factors make it worth the major expense to you then have at the Eva Solo.We had two Fridge Carafe's with a silicon grip sleeve, and wanted to find another one of those in a different color. Couldn't find it, so we picked this up. The carafe is great. We make sun tea in it and love that it fits in the refrigerator door. But I prefer the silicone sleeve to the neoprene cover. The cover is terrific quality and there's not a thing wrong with it. It's just not exactly what we wanted. Still glad we managed to find the third carafe.Good size, easy to handle and insulating jacket works well. It is indeed non-drip with a cap that has a loose plate on the top that allows liquid to pour without having to remove the cap. However if the liquid is potentially sticky such as juice, liquid can build up and dry on top of the cap and the plate will become clogged. Either rinse with warm water frequently or just remove the cap when pouring.this is great for the southern regions of the US. Keeps everything nice and cold. No dripping!it always works as intented and is just elegant and beautiful. Great for putting ice and lemon and chunks of mint into the water in summer. I stays all thereGreat but the lid was missingGreat gift. Really solid design---*** UPDATE 07/2013 ***---I've owned this carafe for almost 3 years now and I would revise a few things about it:* I never really put the insulating properties of this carafe to the test, until just recently. I'd have to say that the marketing blurb saying that the "neoprene cover helps insulate to keep drinks cold longer" is not a truly valid claim. I've not done any scientific measurements of liquid warming with and without the cover, but I wouldn't say it helps much. The only real benefit to the cover is that it does a pretty good job of making it easy to handle the carafe. I've found that under modest humidity the cover keeps condensation in, but with moderate humidity it'll eventually soak through. I suspect one may enjoy the beverage before that happens, though.* The lid is certainly not air tight, but it is loose enough that it will allow evaporation over time.* The spout rubber section will loosen up over time. It should still hold back liquid, but some of it will get trapped between the top and bottom gaskets. Depending upon what you've kept in it, gunk may build up enough to turn into mold. I've found that using the carafe with chilled water or iced tea to be the only liquids that work well in this. Anything like juice that contains a lot of fructose and/or sugar will end up becoming quite messy to clean up.* Would I buy another? No. One is enough, especially given the pricing. I ended up buying an Alfi as a secondary carafe and it is a much better value.----------------------------The more remarkable feature of this product is the lid. It's basically a rubber stopper with several symmetrically placed holes and a metal lid attached by a central pin. The lid lies flush against the rubber stopper and the spout opening when the carafe is standing straight up, thus closing off the opening. When you tilt it to pour, the metal lid also tilts, thereby allowing the beverage inside to flow out. The spout has a fine smooth flared edge to it, which makes it drip-less. It's a very clever design. The spout fits inside the glass carafe, secured by a rubber flange that has two raised rings on it. It effectively prevents the liquid from sneaking past it, forcing it to go through the main opening. This spout can be pulled out for easy cleaning. The spout and lid stopper are well made and should last many years. The carafe is not quite on par with the rest of the product. The glass wall is not very thick. It makes me wonder if it would easily break if rapped against a hard surface. I wasn't willing to experiment and find out! Also, the bottom of the carafe has some ring indentations on it, which can collect any sediment your beverage might have. This makes it a little difficult to clean, so you should have a long thin brush on hand for that. The good thing is that the carafe comes with a zippered neoprene sleeve that not only insulates the beverage within but also protects the glass.Overall, it's a good product. It may seem pricey, but I think it's worth it given how it is built to last.Lastly, Eva Solo has excellent customer service. I had lost the neoprene sleeve for mine and wrote to Eva Solo about purchasing a replacement. They apologized for my color no longer being available and sent me one in another color for free. You can't beat that. This is a fabulous carafe. I love the non-drip pourer and the fact that I've cubes, or slices of lemon perhaps, won't flop into the glass.Although, not a 'practical' comment, I like the clean lines of Danish Design.... as my own has lasted over 3 years, is used daily for drinking water and is as good as new. Not cheap but worth every penny.Excellent product delivered as stated.
